Here is what’s possible with your support.
With 45,000 residential homes and 3,000 commercial properties, there is $4.5 billion in taxable value within the TCAPS school district.
It should be our right to raise funds to educate our children using local property taxes. After all, about 10% of all school districts in Michigan have been granted the ability to locally support their public schools.
TCAPS, along with the other 90% of local school districts, are wrongly denied this right under Michigan’s flawed school funding law, Proposal A (passed in 1994.)
But we don’t have to accept it any more.
We can simply raise funds on our own; right here in our local community.
Use the tool below to estimate your own personal monthly obligation – if Lansing politicians granted our local community the right to hold a millage vote; “YES to TCAPS for Operations.”
Imagine if every local taxpayer and community member contributed their suggested monthly donation above.
Friends of TCAPS could provide nearly $7 million* annually to help supplement our local schools and benefit our broader region. This would provide TCAPS 6% more funding than it receives today – doing more, with less – while getting the lowest per pupil funding in the State of Michigan.
Together, we can enable TCAPS to do more, with more.
Friends of TCAPS’ supplemental funding support would help to lower class sizes, restore necessary services and support for our area’s most vulnerable children, help to avoid unnecessary school closures in the future, work to provide the best and most up-to-date curriculum for our students and enable valuable ongoing training for our talented teachers and staff, among other important areas of support.
The impact of your monthly donation above is game-changing.
This is what’s possible.
* The above guide is based a hypothetical local property tax of 1.5 mills to supplement the current operational funding for TCAPS and its approximate 10,000 students.
